Also, use NoveList to find plot descriptions, reviews, and much more for over 125,000 fiction titles. It also includes other great reader resources, such as author read-alikes, book discussion guides, and annotated book lists. Search by age, grade, genre & more.
Databases
Unlike a website that you find through searching the internet, a database is a resource that the library purchases. So the information that you find there is reliable just like the information in a book or a periodical. In fact, the information that you find on a database IS a book, article, or periodical and NOT a website (even though you are reading it on the computer). This information also "counts" as a book, article, or periodical, not a website, when you are citing your sources for a school project!
Browse through our databases by subject here or find databases just for Grades K-2 or Grades 3-6.
Periodicals: Newspapers, Magazines, Journals, etc.
A periodical is a newspaper, magazine or other journal that is regularly published. WTPL subscribes to periodicals that are both in print and online. Stop by the library to see our in print subscriptions or take a look below to find periodicals online.

Websites
Coming soon!
Should I use a database or a website...what's the difference? Why is searching a database better for accurate information than using Google(c)?
That's easy! ANYONE can put ANYTHING up on the web. Just because a search engine picks it up does not mean that the information is accurate. But a database, on the other hand, is a resource that the library purchases.
