What is a database? How is a database different from a website?
How are library database different from searching in Google or other Internet search engines? Although databases are accessed through your Internet browser they are very different from searching the Internet. Anyone can create a website and put information up on the web which makes the accuracy of many websites questionable and problematic. In contrast, a database is a resource that the library purchases and thus the information that you find there is published through reliable sources. When citing information from a database the source is cited as a book, article or periodical (depending on the type of database) and NOT as a website.
